Installation continues for QuASAR
QuASAR – the first project in our emerging quantum technologies programme – saw its second phase of installation this month, with the team from Durham University spending a week in the lab assembling the intricate laser system that sits at the heart of the project.
QuASAR is a cold atom quantum mechanics experiment that aims to use precisely-directed lasers to supercool rubidium atoms to mere thousandths of a degree Kelvin.
Installation of the project is now complete for 2025, and we’ll be no doubt seeing the team from Durham University returning in 2026.
